ABC Music & Me – Where music supports learning and the NQF

Our early childhood curricula use music and movement as a FUN, engaging and natural way for children to learn. ABC Music & Me brings a meaningful music experience to children in the classroom learning environment, and to their home environment, too!

Australian National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care

The ABC Music and Me curricula align with Australian National Quality Standards for early childhood education and care – most particularly in the Quality Areas of:

1. Educational program and practice
2. Physical environment
3. Relationships with children
4. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

Early Years Learning Framework for Australia
ABC Music and Me supports the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia. The scope and sequence for the ABC Music & Me curricula align with EYLF learning outcomes for children birth to 5 years. (Some examples are listed below, however please ask to see a copy of the Scope and Sequence for the ABC Music & Me – Sing & Play, Wiggle & Grow, Laugh & Learn and Move & Groove curricula for more detailed information)Preschooler with books

EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
ABC Music & Me Scope & Sequence:
children develop confidence through predictable lesson routines
Gathering in a group to sing and learn is a positive way to lower inhibitions and build self-esteem

EYLF Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
ABC Music & Me Scope & Sequence:

  • stories & pretend play activities help children to explore and understand their world and to develop a strong sense of self
  • children engage in singing games and hear and move to music from around the world
  • children explore instruments and learn about music and traditions in other cultures

EYLF Outcome 3: Children have strong sense of well-being
ABC Music & Me Scope & Sequence:

  • children show trust in adults by imitating teacher-modelled behaviours
  • the group learning environment fosters social skills and a sense of inclusion for all children in the group

EYLF Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
ABC Music & Me Scope & Sequence:

  • children express needs and desires during turn-taking activities and suggest movement ideas during circle time activities
  • children delight in their developing ability to control their actions and body movements through ‘stop & go’ games and activities that encourage inhibitory control

EYLF Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators
ABC Music & Me Scope & Sequence:

  • children use singing voice, movements and instruments to express emotion
  • children develop attention skills, respond to aural cues and learn about the give and take of conversation through call & response/echo activities
  • children use thinking skills to resolve conflicts during instrument exploration and group movement
