Baby Playdate 2017

Did you know? Musical diversity builds strong neural connections in your baby’s forming mind. Babies who participate in interactive music classes with their parents smile more, communicate better, are easier to soothe and show earlier and more sophisticated brain responses to music.

“The time I spend with my son in class each week is invaluable time spent one on one enjoying a playful and relaxed adventure in musical discovery together. It also provides my son Olivier with an opportunity to experience new ways of interacting in a group situation both with the adults and other children present.”- Jacasta B., Music2Grow Parent

Cuddle & Bounce is a joyful music experience – a rich community of sharing and learning for you and your little one, with emphasis placed on sensory exploration, beat, rhythm, movement, vocal play, listening and bonding. Each week you and your baby will enjoy a unique blend of musical learning activities that engage all the senses and stimulate your baby’s developing brain – promoting language, physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth.

Kindermusik Level 1 for Walkers (1-2 years)
Sing & Play provides a warm and welcoming introduction to music, immersing your young toddler in rhythm, song, rhymes, instrument play, movement and steady beat activities to nurture his growth and development. Class activities encourage your toddler to explore and experience music with their whole bodies and to respond in their own ways, while your active participation gives them the security they need to join in all the musical fun.

Kindermusik Level 2 for Toddlers (2 & 3 years)
For your toddler, every day brings new discoveries and opportunities to explore the world around them. Our Kindermusik class for older toddlers celebrates the unique joys of your growing child and invites them to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond to the music and movement activities in their own way – while your active participation gives them the security they need to engage and explore.

Kindermusik Laugh & Learn for Preschoolers (3-5 years)
Laugh & Learn combines your preschooler’s natural love of music, storytelling, and imaginative play with age-appropriate activities that introduce early music concepts and foster independence, social and emotional skills, language growth, and self-control. Each week provides your preschooler with one uninterrupted session of imaginative, musical play that is guided in a very specific, sequential way. Musical concepts and skills needed to succeed in learning and instrument are gradually developed and reinforced.

Group Musicianship Classes – Kindermusik for the Young Child (5-7 years): Using a small-group approach to music-education the Young Child program provides a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition where children can musically succeed before taking on specific instrumental or vocal instruction.

In small, movement-oriented classes, your child develops their greatest instrument – the voice – while learning the symbols and vocabulary of music making. Children will also gain hands-on experience with a range of musical instruments, including the glockenspiel, dulcimer and recorder during the course of this 4-semester programme.

A new Young Child class is commencing in semester 1 2018! Contact Verna for more information and to register your interest.

* Each enrolment receives one entry into the draw. Winner will be drawn in class during the first week of Term 1, 2018.

Let’s Play mixes favourite toys of childhood with the magic of music and pretend play. A pretend walk to the park develops into problem solving, cooperation, and instrument play. Familiar childhood toys like teddy bears, Jack-in-the-boxes, balls, and spinning tops are nestled into this unit along with luscious vocal play with silly words and rhymes. Happy times are ahead as we take a ride on a train to help us learn about accelerando and about slowing to a stop. Lesson foci of pretend play, cause and effect and prediction, and learning in a group help you to learn about the ways children learn to create, assemble, and understand their world as they go about their play.
Class Story: Golden Bear

Unit Theme 2) Carnival of Music
Step right up to A Carnival of Music! Children are compulsive music makers – they hum while they play, sing along with the music in the car and love the opportunity to use wooden spoons and pots from the kitchen as drums. The music and activities in this unit will invite children to play and become comfortable with a variety of instruments; to expand their natural tendency to sing and move and support the development of a strong musical foundation for future enjoyment and pursuit.

Music2Grow Awarded Kindermusik Maestro 2017

I am very proud to announce that we have been awarded Kindermusik Maestro status for 2017-2018, the highest recognition awarded by Kindermusik International. This places our program in the top 5% of Kindermusik programs worldwide and recognises Music2Grow for exceptional service to our local community.

Music2Grow Maestro Program 2017-2018

Thank you to all the wonderful families who have attended Kindermusik classes with me since our small beginnings in the church hall at Noosa Christian College back in 2009. In that time we have grown from one baby and toddler class held in Cooroy, to more than 10 weekly classes for children aged newborn – 7 years, in three locations across the Sunshine Coast, Buderim, Cooroy and Noosa.

It is my passionate belief that all children are musical and that music is a powerful tool for learning. As some of you know, I first discovered the benefits of music as a teaching tool whilst teaching English in Japan in the early nineties – yes, I have taught a whole generation of kids in country Hiroshima to sing “The Wheels on the Bus” with an Aussie accent!

I love the warmth and community of our small-group classes and the way the Kindermusik curriculum supports parents as their child’s most important teacher. It is what drew me to the Kindermusik program in the first place – that and the professional quality of the materials and curriculum which blends the music-education philosophies of Carl Orff, Zoltan Kodaly and Shinichi Suzuki with the developmental research and pedagogical approaches of Lev Vygotsky, Jean Piaget and Maria Montessori.

It is my great privilege to be able to share the joy of music and learning with my Kindermusik families each week – to witness musical skills blossom and learning skills develop and to see life-long friendships form. There is nothing more satisfying for me than seeing babies dancing in their mother’s arms or bouncing and clapping to the beat; hearing a toddler sing in class for the first time or watching a preschooler play their first notes on the glockenspiel. I look forward to many more years continuing to do what I love.
