I am very excited to be returning to Karinya Montessori Children’s House in 2011 to offer specialist music & movement classes to children enrolled at the centre.  I will once again be offering the ABC Music & Me programme “Laugh & Learn” for 2-4 year-olds.  This is a fantastic, research-based language and early literacy program built around music.  Classes taught at the centre help develop pre-literacy and language skills through a child’s most-loved rituals – music and story time.

We will kick-start the year with “Around the Farm”, a lovely unit that helps develop your child’s memory and sequence skills through stop-and-go games tucked into stories and pretend play about animals on a farm. Your Family Guide details what your child learns in the classroom, suggests activities for home, has a colours-on-the-farm game for you to play together and includes the class story, Cows in the Kitchen, a story of farm animals who wake up their sleeping farmer.   Your Home Kit includes a pair of rhythm sticks, Home CD, and Family Guide.

Our second unit will be “Let’s Play”.  In this unit we will explore all the ways your child plays—at home, at kindy and during your family time together.  In class we’ll play “Follow the Leader” and other playground games to help your toddler develop listening and singing skills while strengthening movement and hand-eye coordination. In your Family Guide you will find more activities, songs, and games you can do together to play and learn at home, too.  Your Home Kit includes a mini tambourine, Home CD, and magazine-style Family Guide (includes the class story Golden Bear)
